Led by Cruz Gomez and Sophie Gomez, The Pit Idaho carries forward the fighting tradition of the Pit system founded by legendary MMA coach John Hackleman.

Cruz is one of the original Pit fighters, coming up in the old-school era alongside athletes like Chuck Liddell. After years of training under Hackleman and competing in numerous professional fights, he now brings that same battle-tested mindset to his athletes—focusing on conditioning, toughness, and core fundamentals.

Sophie is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Hawaiian Kempo and plays a central role in daily training. She leads striking, Jiu-Jitsu, and sparring classes, developing fighters at every level—from beginners to active competitors.

Together, Cruz and Sophie have built The Pit Idaho into a serious training environment defined by discipline, respect, and hard work—continuing to produce well-rounded fighters who embody the toughness and humility of the Pit name.

Renegade Training Center is led by professional mixed martial artist Cody Gibson, a longtime UFC veteran and one of California’s most respected fighters.
